Fitness Apps I use

I was speaking to my friend, and the conversation led to New Year Resolutions, including if people generally keep up with this. It was fantastic to hear that they were still keeping up with going to the gym. It is difficult but they have gone into a place where they are now really enjoying it. We discussed what we do at the gym, sharing ideas as well as various eating habits. This then led into discussions on exercise apps. So I thought what a perfect way for a  great blog post!

I do not go the gym to lose weight, I did but that over a decade ago. Currently I go to maintain my mental health, tone and to meet the Government requirements of at least 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week, as well as to try to live as long as possible, which is the reason for my brand Livelongrocks- Living as long a possible!

I try and go three or four times a week, Inco-operating different exercises on each of those days. As I have been going for a long time, it is important for me to try and switch things up a little bit, otherwise I get bored, lose motivation and focus. I use a mixture of weights and kettlebells. But then three years ago I saw that Jillian Michaels, the famous personal trainer developed an app, which I started using. It was and still is a great app, please see my previous blog post about this on here: Jillian Michaels Post

Jillian has now added more things to the app, and has developed this further including meditation. I feel like now, Jillian has not just made this a fitness app, it is more of a lifestyle, as the meditation can help with improved sleep, which is linked to weight loss and overall mental wellbeing. I forgot to mention that Jillian has also added previous dvd's workouts that she made years ago, and this is available on the app, including audio workouts, so I feel like I never run out of ideas when I arrive at the gym. Because of this I use the app on one of the days, weights and kettlebells on the other days.

I have now expanded this, and found another app. I discovered this during the coronavirus pandemic called Downdog. This app at the time was free to download and this was for yoga only. I have heard great things about yoga, and its benefits, but to be honest there was so many out there and was not sure which one to go for. As this was free, and there was lots of choice I decided to go for this. The choices included the style of the yoga workouts, choice of specific body part to focus on, how experienced I am with yoga, even the choice of music, and the choice of voiceover being a man or a woman. I really enjoyed this app, and I noticed a difference after a few weeks on my arms and legs. I am now a paying subscriber and they have branched into developing other apps which I have. I have the meditation, barre and workouts app, all on the Downdog umbrella. I pay $20 a year for this, which is brilliant and very cheap for all four apps: Yoga, workout, barre and meditation.

I now have choices when I go to the gym, with the Downdog app, Jillian Michaels, as well as Kettlebells and the weights.
