King Richard (Venus and Serena Williams Film)

This is a little bit away from my usual topic on nutrition. But I feel that this is still just relevant for all walks of life.

I went to see the film King Richard the other day. If you have not heard of the film it is about the two tennis players Serena and Venus Williams, their upbringing in Compton (Los Angeles) with their dad Richard, as well as the other members of the family. Richard taught them from an early age ( I think ages 6 and above) how to play tennis. But things were not so easy on their journey to stardom. I do not want to spoil the film for you, in case you do go and watch it. I just want to touch on the moral of the film. I think the moral of this is making a plan. Richard's dream was for Venus and Serena to become successful tennis players. He made a plan to do this.

Anything you want to do, we all have to make a plan to get there. I do actually mention this in near enough all my posts, however they are not said as "make a plan", but I do make changes or do things , to demonstrate that a plan is actually made. Take for example when I make my meals, I make a plan for this. I go to the supermarket, I buy the ingredients, as well as checking the food labels on the items, to make sure that that they have adequate amounts of sugar etc on there.  Another example of making a plan is going to the gym. That itself is another form of planning. I decide on my outfits to wear, will they be suitable for the equipment that I am going to use, do I have adequate footwear, do I need to change this, my meals to support going to the gym, is this adequate at all? I take these into consideration when I am going to the gym, that is part of my plan.

I feel that everything that we do , we make plans to make sure that things are done correctly. Another example is preparing to go to work. We make sure we have the right outfits to wear, we have eaten food before we go, check the mode of transportation, is there going to be bad traffic, will there be delays on the trains.

As we all know things from time to time do not go to plan, which again is mentioned in the film. There is always up and downs, that is part of life sometimes. But as my old school teacher taught me, as well as family/friends, never digress from the plan. We swap things, change things,  adapt it, and carry on. A great example of this is the covid -19 pandemic. That without a doubt came from no where, we were not expecting this at all. I am sure people's plan came to a complete standstill. As we are still adapting to this great change, my advice is to not digress from the plan, keep going, and not let the pandemic stop us from going ahead with the plan.  We have dreams and ideas that we would love to do. We can achieve this, but we cannot do this without great work ethic, plans, and hard work. In the film Richard moved his family from Los Angeles to Florida to train with a tennis coach. That was a great change, and a big challenge,  but that was part of the plan, they had to do that in order for Venus and Serena to become the great tennis players that they became.

My moral is never give up, make a plan, and you never know your dreams may come true, if that is buying a house, or losing weight, going to University to get that degree.

Do not let anybody tell you you cannot achieve your dream!!
